Vacation and Exam

Last week was a flurry of activity since I was trying to finish everything I needed to in order to go on vacation without having to do all the work on the road.

Here are some of my favorite pictures:

It felt so good to sit on the beach with a good book and soak up the warm sun. The book I read is called The Adept by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turner Harris. This was either the second or third time I read this book. I know I read it when I was in high school.  I may have read it again since then but I can’t remember. It is a paranormal fantasy I believe. It is set in England and Scottland. Adam Sinclair is a doctor and a consultant for the police. He has the ability to see and sense the mystical realm. In this book, he meets a man who sees this realm, and he draws or paints what he sees. The poor man, Peregrine, thinks he is going insane. Sinclair explains what is happening to Peregrine as they unravel the mystery of a stolen sword. This book was first published in 1991. It is interesting to see how the writing styles have changed. Kurtz and Harris did a lot of head hopping in the middle of scenes, something which would not fly in today’s publishing world. Still, I enjoyed the book. It felt sooo very good to read a book in 3 days. I can’t remember the last time I was able to do that. And it was an adult book to boot!

Now I’m back to reality. I went to technology training at my school this week, ETSI2017. It was fascinating. It was also an excellent review for my 5720 exam. I earned 49 of 50 points on that exam on Tuesday, so I am pretty pleased with that! I need to get cranking on the project for my 5001 class now that the 5720 class is done.

School starts in a couple weeks. I know the weeks will go by in a blur. I have a lot of ideas to try out from all that I’ve learned this summer. Most of them involve website building and audio recording. I ran into trouble recording at school so I may have to do it here at home.

I guess I need to get back to it now.
